Welcome to our small family run hotel, Accommodation of 6 bedrooms, a Restaurant and a Bar, open to residents and visitors, serving local seafood and real ales throughout the summer and open all year round.
A fully licensed hotel serving refreshments, tea, coffee and meals are available all day. We can cater for coaches or small parties and in the bar, frequently have live music.
Our warm friendly atmosphere together with the somewhat wild yet romantic background setting lends itself well to any Private Function or special occasion.

Named after the famous Sutherland 'Smoo Cave' the hotel is situated in the east of Durness, just off the A838 at Lerinmore with private car parking.
Smoo Cave Hotel is set in spectacular scenery close to the famous Smoo Cave and Cape Wrath, famous for puffins, fishing and golfing and in the heart of Scotland’s first Geopark!
Durness is in the heart of Scotland’s first North West Highlands UNESCO Global Geopark; is the most north westerly village and is the least populated parish (2.4 people per square mile) on mainland Britain, in the Northern Scottish Highlands.
Durness has everything, beautiful beaches, lochs and mountains above all, peace and tranquillity in this Scottish highland haven. If you desire a restful break, with the complete independence to go where you like, to do what you want with room to breathe Durness and the Smoo Cave Hotel are for you.
If you are driving the NC500 you might consider Basecamping at the Smoo Cave Hotel or dropping-in for sustenance, refreshments, a snack or a hearty meal.
