Watersports around Durness

Outside the Smoo Cave Hotel door, there are many great beaches with direct access to the North Sea and close-by there are multiple Rivers and Lochs (a Scottish word for lakes).  

Here on the North Coast of Scotland there are plenty of locations for any type of water sports and for all grades of capabilities from surfing, wild swimming, diving, snorkelling, kayaking and coasteering.

Sea Kayaking in the inlets, bays and coves and around Cape Wrath as well as along the North Coast, makes Durness an ideal base for this sport.

Surfing from a range of nearby beaches with consistent swells and north facing breaks, alternatively from the West Coast or  venturing East at Dunnet Beach there is an opportunity for surf lessons with North Coast Watersports
